Guest count is useful when sizing a PA system, but it is not enough by itself. A 100-person indoor ceremony and a 100-person outdoor program can need very different equipment because the room, speaker placement, background noise, microphones, and playback needs all change the job.
For roughly 50 guests
A smaller indoor event may only need a compact professional system when the main goal is speech, announcements, or ceremony audio. Room shape still matters. A long or divided space may need different placement than a simple square room.
For roughly 100 guests
Medium-sized events usually need more careful coverage, especially when people are spread across a larger room. Multiple microphones, presentation audio, or music playback can also change the mixer and speaker requirements.
For roughly 200 guests
At this size, system design matters more than simply turning the volume up. Larger rooms, outdoor spaces, or wide seating areas may need additional speakers, more power, subwoofers for music-heavy events, or more than one sound zone.
Outdoor sound is its own problem
There are no walls to contain the sound, so distance, wind, crowd noise, and available power matter more. Portable power may also be needed when dependable venue power is not close to the setup.
Tell us who needs a microphone and what will play through the system
An officiant, presenter, panel, host, performer, and audience Q&A all create different microphone needs. Speech-only events can also be designed differently from events with DJ playback, video audio, or music.
